The Task

We were tasked with having to create both a social media advertisement and a magazine advertisement for four different products. These products were given to us by being paired with a student from the Photography major and that student took pictures of four different food and drink products. Using their images, we had to create advertisements for each product. After this, we had to create a reel that would showcase all four products (which can be found above). Below are the four products and the social media advertisement along with the magazine advertisement for each.

Arizona Tea

Gatorade

Magazine Ad

For the Arizona Tea magazine advertisement, I was again, just given the picture of the can itself. For this ad, I decided to switch it up from the social media ad. I took the simple and classy style of the text and words I used for the social media ad, and made that the focus of this magazine ad. I thought it would be a nice idea to make it "as simple as addition" and just took a peach emoji and a tea emoji to make the AriZona tea can. Simple Math. Great Taste.

Social Media Ad

For the Arizona Tea social media advertisement, I was given just a picture of the can itself. I decided that I wanted to put more emphasis on the peach flavor and by doing that, I added a peach with a backdrop that shows the nature side of the drink. I put it on a wooden table to fit with it being outside. For the text, I decided to keep it simple and classy "Experience the great taste of AriZona." I added the AriZona sun underneath the word AriZona to put even more emphasis on the brand.

Social Media Ad

For the Gatorade social media ad, I was given just the picture of the Gatorade bottle. I knew immediately that I wanted to make it dramatic by only showing half of the bottle. In order to make this look better, I had to add more shading towards the left side of the bottle and make it lighter on the right. For the text, I just took the thirst quenching aspect of Gatorade and used that. To fill the black space in the background, I added a large Gatorade Logo that helps add more color and more branding.

Magazine Ad

For the Gatorade magazine advertisement, again, I was just given the picture of the Gatorade bottle. For this one, I took that same idea of making the bottle dramatized but this one I went a different direction. I added a spotlight that shines on the left of the bottle so I had to flip the lighting and shading on the bottle. I added some fog texturing to add more to it. For the text, I stayed with the thirst quenching and hydrating qualities of Gatorade and kept it simple with "Stay Hydrated." Finally, to fill some of the black space I added a Gatorade Logo on the bottom left.

gushers

Takis

Social Media Ad

For the Gushers social media advertisement, I decided to appeal to a younger audience by adding in a cartoon aspect. Since the photo I had to use was the actual Gushers box itself, I knew I wanted it to be leaking with the gusher juice. So, I made it an animated liquid which called for it to be on an animated table. I had multiple sayings for this ad but I went with the "Awww! You made me gush," to try and add some humor into the ad.

Magazine Ad

For the Gushers magazine ad, I decided to switch it up from the cartoonish style and make it simple yet satisfying to look at. So I started out by putting the image of the box on a black background then I added the text "Instantly Satisfying," which emphasizes the immediate satisfaction of biting into a gusher and having the juice squirt out. I made the text look like the juice inside a Gusher while also adding a bunch of juice splatter to make it more interesting.

Social Media Ad

For the Takis social media advertisement, I essentially took the magazine ad that I completed first and put it into a box. I was given a photo of the bag with the Takis themselves on the side. I decided to really put a focus on the fire and heat side of the product with noticeable fire being put all over the ad. I even made the text "Feel the fuego," as flames.

Magazine Ad

For the Takis magazine Ad, there are only two noticeable differences than the social media ad. I added flames to the top of the bag and there aren't any limes in this ad.
